Today at the shop.. Easter Sunday re-fit

Today at the shop.... we sold a lemon and a bunch of spring onions, but we were actually closed.

Taking full advantage of the Easter weekend 'holiday', we had decided to do a bit of a shop 'Refit and Spring Clean'. Fortified by Dee's toffee apple muffins and a strong pot of CafeDirect coffee, a ten-strong team stripped out and cleaned all the fruit and veg shelves, the old apple racks have been discarded and our new salad fridge is now installed. We've had a good spruce-up and refreshed the stock. When a new 'Jams and Preserves' display unit and new blackout blinds arrive tomorrow, along with new information blackboards, we'll be all ready to re-open on Wednesday.

A big thanks to all volunteers who gave up their day of rest to help today!

The 'works' in progress, you'll have to visit us on Wednesday to see the final result!

The shop refit

It was worth giving up a few hours of the day to make such a fantastic impact on the look of the shop.

I'm very sure that customers will find it much better and add to their shopping experience. (Eeekkkkk did I just say that ? ). Well I think that the place looks better.

We moved the central shelving unit a wee bit to make more room at the bread end, threw away the old apple display stand which was the one of the last remnants of the old "aubergine" shop. The large potato boxes have moved towards the bakery, they're now next to the new fridge which will hold all the salad items.

The metal shelving was removed and washed and dried, then returned to the shop and reassembled.

Now with the swish display units which were  made by Simon a few weeks ago we are heading towards the final definative shop, finished and never to be altered again.

Well not for a few more months anyway.

I'd be interested to hear what you the customer thinks of our alterations.
